This is really the story of one boy and his love of food. The boy’s name is Alex Palermo and at the tender age of 24 he started a tiny pasta factory in Los Angeles, California. The idea, which was actually a college project, was simple: make fresh pasta, with wholesome ingredients, just like his mom did when he was growing up. Soon restaurants all over Los Angeles were buying his fresh pasta. Then something strange happened … something he never expected. People started knocking on the factory door. Curious neighbors came calling.

“ What are you making in here?” they asked.

“ We keep seeing flour and eggs, is this a bakery?”

“ Well, no,” said Alex, “we make fresh pasta.”

“ Wow!” replied the people, “can we buy some?”

“ Sure you can!” smiled Alex.

And soon a register was put in on a table near the door and people would line up and buy packages of pasta and ravioli and lasagna sheets; Divine Pasta Company was born. Maybe we’re paraphrasing a bit, but that’s basically how it went. The register turned soon into a store, the store grew and grew and turned into Cube.

Cube represents all the artisan food makers we love and believe in; the ones who start out in little factories, or rented kitchens, and only have their elbow grease and the desire to share something with others. Because really, as we wax poetic, by golly that is what it’s all about: food is for everyone. Food is to share, to continue a past we hold dear, and to connect us all.

That’s just the beginning of our story. We’ll keep you posted as it grows.
