Cubeb Pepper


Cubeb has a peppery, aromatic taste, with a touch of nutmeg, and a hint of eucalyptus and turpentine. Cubeb are great for meat and vegetable dishes and are best paired with bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, curry leaf, rosemary, sage, thyme and turmeric. Store whole in an airtight container, they will last for 2 years or more.

Cubebs are the fruit of a tropical vine of the pepper family native to Java and other Indonesian islands. Also known as java pepper or tailed pepper, they are used locally in Indonesian cuisine and to a lesser extent in Sri Lanka, where they are also grown. They look like peppercorns but bear a small tail, hence the nickname
