2009 Cantele Negroamaro Rosato Rose Wine from Puglia


This 2009 Cantele Negroamaro Rosato from Puglia is a big bodied rose wine with a slightly buttery quality. While large and smooth it finds a nice balance from the tart notes of the strawberries. It can stand up well to most seafood especially if you manage to work in a little citrus here or there.

Dating back to the 1950’s, the Cantele winery was founded by Giovanni Battista and Teresa Manara Cantele in Salento, the land of the sun. After being passed on to their children, Augusto and Domenica, and then again to their children Paolo, Gianni, Umberto and Luisa, the philosophy still remains, “in order to make a great bottle of wine, you need patience and devotion… and a good memory to tell a great story.”


This 2009 Cantele Negroamaro Rosato will be quite nice with cod and a citrus based dressing or prosciutto wrapped melon for a light snack.
