When Giancarlo and Nuccia Gloder purchased the Poggio Antico estate in 1984, these Milan natives fell in love with Montalcino wines. Since 1987, Paola (their daughter) has managed the vineyard. While the estate can be dated back to the 19th century, it wasn’t until some time in the 1970’s that it was renovated, bring electricity, vineyards and the wine cellar it still has today. Now the winery is managed by Paola’s oldest daughter Arianna and her cousin Sabrina. Together they have brought the winery prestigious awards including 4th place on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list with their 85’ Brunello.
We like this 2008 Poggio Antico Rosso di Montalcino with veal or pasta with tomato based sauce.
