2008 Palari Rosso Del Soprano Red Wine from Sicily

This 2008 Palari Rosso Del Soprano Red Wine from Sicily is basically an Etna Rosso with a little extra body thanks to the Nocera grape. It ends up being a light bodied, bright cherry fruit red with notes of pepper and leather, leaving you with a smoky finish.

Hiding in the hills around Messina, Palari is one of Sicily’s most successful small Italian wine producers that focuses on indigenous grapes. Head winemaker Salvatore Geraci’s goal is to produce two different wines from the same grape. First, their most sought after wine is Palari Faro, a Tre Bicchieri winner that comes from one of the smallest DOCs in Italy at a minuscule 6 hectares. They also take pride in their Rosso del Soprano -a nice blend of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera grapes.

We like this 2008 Palari Rosso Del Soprano with a duck confit with cherry or fig compote.
