2007 Pecchenino Dolchetto San Luigi Red Wine from Piedmont

This 2007 Pecchenino Dolchetto San Luigi Red Wine from Piedmont is a more fruit forward version than the '06 Dolchetto by Pecchenino. It still maintains a nice bit raspberries and acid but adds a touch of flowers to the nose that brightens the whole thing up.

Dating back to the late 1700's, the Pecchenino wine estate has been passed down from generation to generation. It wasn't until 1987 that the farm acquired it's full 25 hectares of land under the current owners Orlando and Attilio Pecchenino. With 22 hectares in the Dogliani region, the vast majority of their grapes are Dolcetto, though they also planted other vines like Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The remaining 3 hectares in Monforte d'Alba are dedicated solely to Barolo.

This 2007 Pecchenino Dolchetto San Luigi is a great wine to just have with a simple bucatini all'amatriciana.
