This 2006 Tenuta Le Querce Aglianico del Vulture Red Wine from Basilicata is amazing. We love Aglianicos from Vulture, even more than their more famous counterparts in Taurasi. It's something about the pervading minerality that accompanies the ash and plum fruit of these wines that makes them so great.

Tenuta Le Querce winery is situated in the Barile district near an ancient volcano known as The Vulture. Managed by the Pietrafesa family, their focus has been to cultivate Aglianico -a two thousand year old grape varietal native to the region. With a grandiose 120 hectares to its name, the estate has more than enough space to work with and is capable of producing a large yield of wine every year. The grapes are hand harvested and aged in Barrique barrels where they refine for several months giving us some of the finest Aglianico Vulture of the region.
