While it takes a while to show its true colors with time it opens up into a lovely, delicate version of Barbaresco that will only add complexity with time.
Varietal: Nebbiolo
Region: Piedmont
Size: 750ml
In 1894, headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba, Domizio Cavazza, brought together nine Barbaresco vineyard owners to make wine in his castle creating the first Barbaresco wine co-op known as "Cantine Sociali." Their goal was to distinguishing the differences between the same Nebbiolo grape grown in two regions. But it wasn’t until 1958 that the community reorganized 19 of the area’s small growers to form Produttori del Barbaresco. Now, with 56 members and 100 hectares to its name, the winery and it’s different estates produce a Barbaresco D.O.C.G. that blend the Nebbiolo grapes harvested from different vineyards as well as 9 single producer vintages representative of their respective sites.
We like this 2006 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco with artichoke, mushroom and truffle risotto.
