Varietal: Nero d’Avola, Frappato
Region: Sicily
Size: 750ml
Handed down from generation to generation, the Poggio di Bortolone estate has been part of the Cosenza family since the late 17th century. Today, Ignazio Cosenza and his son Pierluigi manage the estate in Ragusa at the southeastern part of Sicily. The land is over 60 hectares of sandy soil some 270 meters above sea level with a nice Mediterranean breeze. Now, the Para Para vine yields some of the finest varietals in Sicily including their Cerasuolo DOC, Nero d’Avola, Syrah and Petit Verdot.
We like this 2006 Poggio di Bortolone Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico with tomato based fish dishes and Mediterranean herbs.
