This 2004 Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva red wine from Tuscany is an amazing riserva Brunello from a landmark vintage. This wine is just starting to hit its stride. This wine is not your gigantic, overly fruity Brunello. It is layer after layer of discovery that can surely be enhanced by a good food pairing. Needless to say, this wine will drink well for another 15-20 years.

Founded by Primo Pacenti in 1962, Azienda Agricola Canalicchio di Sopra sits on the northern side of the Montalcino Municipality. The grounds are managed by 3 generations of the family: Grandfather and founder Primo, Pier Luigi Ripaccioli and primo’s three grandchildren Simonetta, Marco and Francesco. Together, they have taken 15 of their 60 hectares dedicated to vineyards and managed to infuse the ancient cultivation methods with nuanced and innovative technologies. The result is some of the finest Sangiovese grapes in Tuscany.
