From the Palumbo groves near Catania, Sicily, this oil is first cold pressed with the greatest care from three traditional Sicilian olive varieties: Nocellare Etnea, Tonda Iblea, and Biancolilla. The Palumbo family is proud to produce one of Italy's most sophisticated and flavorful olive oils. Interesting fact: The world's first scientific botanical description of the blood orange was written by the Palumbo's grandfather and published in an American scientific journal early in the 20th century. On the Palumbo farm today you will see alternating rows of blood orange trees and olive trees. They believe that the intersecting roots of the two species impart a distinctive flavor to the olives. This olive oil is Lightly Fruity with notes of butter with a velvety mouth feel. A very light olive taste perfect for salads, fresh vegetables and fresh fish.
