Terra Amore & Fantasia - peeled tomatoes in a tin - are from an ancient variety local to Puglia (Puglia is blessed with as much sun and rich soil as Sicily and Campania, regions also traditionally associated with production of superb tomato varieties).
Particularly challenging to grow and with a naturally low yield, these tomatoes were slowly disappearing from the fields of Italy until Sabatino discovered them and decided to preserve their excellent flavor for generations to come.
Light years away from green-house grown tomatoes, Terra Amore & Fantasia are produced in limited quantities and picked only for 15 days during the month of August when perfectly ripe and fleshy.
As you would with any good peeled tomatoes, keep a generous bunch of tins in your pantry and use them for pasta sauces, on pizza, as an alternative to wine in meat stews and any time you want to delight your palate with a bright infusion of Mediterranean taste. |
