Outside the small Tuscan town of Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa, Isabella Devetta grows her own violets among olive trees and rose bushes. This unique and precious floral syrup is obtained by boiling the petals in sugar and water, and adding a small amount of lemon juice to preserve the lovely violet color. Makes a refreshing drink diluted with cold water. Drizzle over iced cookies and cakes, or over fresh ricotta pie. Make a soothing tea by adding to hot water with lemon. |
